Taita Wildlife Conservancy (Taita Ranch) Sets Sight with a 5-Year Strategic Plan

Taita Wildlife Conservancy (TWC) is a privately owned conservancy in Taita Taveta County combining ranching and conservation. In partnership with MAZIDO, it developed a five-year strategic plan (2022–2026) aimed at achieving sustainability, coming amid recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic that had ravaged the tourism sector.

The plan will guide the organization's future conservation activities, anchored on TWC's vision and mission and an analysis of the current conservation landscape shaped by climate change. The conservancy has been at the forefront of wildlife conservation in East Africa, with a focus on habitat restoration and protection, research, education, community development, and carbon absorption — and is home to endangered species including Grevy's zebra, pangolin, and the rare black panther, which has been sighted on several occasions.
