Amboseli, Kenya – March 6, 2024 A new generation of leadership is emerging in the Amboseli ecosystem, thanks to the funding from International Funds for Animal welfare (IFAW), in partnership with Amboseli Ecosystem Trust (AET).

The recently completed project focused on empowering women and youth to take a leadership role in natural resource governance. This critical initiative aims to ensure the long-term sustainability of the Amboseli Landscape.
“By collaborating with AET, we aimed to fortify the capacity of local communities for effective leadership within the conservancies and ranches.”

The project involved a deep dive into existing leadership structures, exploring opportunities for improvement and ensuring a smooth transition to the next generation. Extensive engagement with key stakeholders, including local government officials and prominent women leaders, guaranteed that diverse perspectives were incorporated into the program.

This consultancy is part of the project Sustainable Management of Amboseli and Tsavo Landscape being implemented by IFAW in partnership with AET.
